Thursday, April 17, 2008

7:00 p.m.

ATTENDANCE:
Present: Board/representatives-Kristen Arntzen, Aram Bayzaee, Harold Berman, Stacie Brown, David Fowkes, Mike Kirby, Jim Weaver.

Visitors-Mike Ferren, Tim & Aaron Harrison, Jim O’Connell

GENERAL: Quorum, and meeting begun by Aram @ 7:15pm.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS:

A. Presidents Report-Aram Bayzaee
Approved March minutes Aram assembled on behalf of Jim; out sick
Monday/Tuesday flyer is in hand
Several vendors are interested in providing swag for “goodie bags”
Sportsbases schedule to be confirmed

B. V.P. of Rider Development-Harold Berman
Bike show was “weak” versus prior years
Velodrome flyers were requested by some for exposure; cost/value issue
Nutritional distributor XS may be available with samples on a Monday/Tuesday night
C. Race Director- Manfred Ray

D. Government Relations Director’s Report-Mark Harris

E. Treasurer Director’s Report-Mark Suri

F. Communications Director-Mike Kirby
Questioned whose responsibility is it for cancellation decisions?
It is “Based on who is at the track in co-ordination with race officials”
XXX/Athletico will create flyer for Juniors Champs/Rossi Trophy; 7/12/08
Checking out texting system for track/race weather and activity updates
Omnium points listed on NCC/USA Cycling web-site at night’s conclusion
Mike is attaching brochure for race to web-calendar; changes subject to race circumstances
Will peek at other web-sites for creative improvement ideas

G. Public Relations Director-Kristen Arntzen
Woman’s clinic flyers out; $28 cost represents an increase and includes insurance
Zengler sign-in will be up in June
Mentoring program for CAT III; 1 mentor signed to date
Experience racers will be targeted as mentors for sense of their interest
Wilmette Community Band interested in performing ; may want travel expense
Targeted to play first hour
Chicago Public Radio interviewing Kristen; Aram reviewed talking points and importance of understanding racing history and stories to help market sport effectively
2 for 1 spectator certificates are for sale on web-site
Chicago Athlete will have “ad” in May issue

H. Sponsorship Director-vacant

I. Northbrook Park District/Leisure Services Supervisor-Stacie Brown
Track cleaned by training race week
Chicago Rehabilitation never responded to sponsorship request
PA Speakers should be working; work order being placed to confirm

J. Secretary-Jim Weaver

K. Women’s Liaison Report-vacant

OLD BUSINESS:
David Fowkes mentioned Lap Cards are needed; cost were confirmed at $350+/- and too expensive
Scales (2) are needed for bike weigh-in; 1 travel and 1 at Northbrook permanently
ICA will purchase and donate to NCC
Mechanic stands (2) are needed to operate scales; NCC cost
Motor pacing specific insurance is not deemed as necessary from USA Cycling; Northbrook and local association would have to concur; existing insurance would be adequate, reducing costs and additional oversight
